reading list 07
MY reading list is long… i've been a little lazy recently, still some part of me is in the celebration mode.
But a new month starts in a day and so does a new energy, lets hope.
and new books are on the way already,,,,
let the 2011 stick around for a little longer
In FIELD in 'About Looking' by J.Berger I read some Russian proverb which goes like that:
" Life is not a walk across an open field"
placing heterogeneous things together ?
' Places are not fixed by the geometry of space but are free to move across the boundaries of geometry into some elsewhere which lies beyond the limitations of subjective ways of representing objects and their spatial distribution. Places are always unfinished deferred and lacking a unity or order established through representation. They make no sense in themselves, wether they establish a system of differences that requires an ordering. Places move in time as well as in space'
from book Ideas of Difference
researching the notion of PLACE
New semester has started and that brought up new projects on the list…Im researching the meaning of PLACE and SPACE, and wondering how to approach this topic. So far so good, reading a lot and baking carrot cake.

Jagoda's Artist Statement
Through my work I attempt to examine the phenomenon of Stewie as a methaphorical interpretation of both Salvador Dali and loving.
What began as a personal journey of colorism has translated into images of sweet potato and head that resonate with mayans people to question their own redness.
My mixed media camera embody an idiosyncratic view of noone, yet the familiar imagery allows for a connection between elvis, cameras and bananas.
My work is in the private collection of Rich who said 'mark!, that's some real fat Art.'
I am a recipient of a grant from Folsom Prison where I served time for stealing mugs and tie clips from the gift shop of The fruit market gallery. I have exhibited in group shows at steak & shake and portrait gallery, though not at the same time. I currently spend my time between my bed and Berlin.

Very RECOMMENDED !
Installation artist and photographer Sandy Skoglund is widely recognized for her large-format color photographs of people and animal inhabiting surrealistic and elaborately constructed environments. She discusses her evolution from painter to photographer and her "second awakening" as a young artist in New York. She shares images of her work since the late '70s and talks about the complex, intensive photographic process involved in creating her challenging room-size sculptural installations.

IS IT THE FIRST DAY OF THE LAST YEAR? IS IT THE FIRST DAY OF THE NICE YEAR?
I wanted to write some new year's note to, somehow, highlight the 'start' of something brand new, let it be a new time. And I wonder...- what should this note include? And I wonder... if I have something to say. Didn't post much in a past month. December was short, and I spend it on relaxing and doing 'sweet nothing', in a good way. I feel very well and I wonder why some people can't. My new year's resolutions are resolute.
The main one is to WANT LESS... that, I hope, will help me to BE MORE.
